What we have discovered is, he's got great recommendations, loves his job, and is wondering with the rest of us, "What did happen to Glenn?"

Where are you from?

I’m originally from Scottsville, Kentucky, population 4500. 20 minutes from Bowling Green, KY, and 45 minutes north of Nashville.

How long have you been in Little Rock?

I have been in Little Rock since May 2013. Prior to moving to my current practice at St Vincent, I was in private practice here in Little Rock.

Where is your favorite place to eat in Little Rock?

I can’t pick just one! I love Kiyen’s and Sushi Café for sushi. We also frequent YaYa’s and Big Orange on an almost weekly basis.

What is your favorite past time as a child?

Basketball. I’m a Kentucky boy. I lived and breathed basketball for the first 23 years of my life-I actually played basketball in college for a small school in Tennessee, Cumberland University.

What’s your favorite Holiday? Why?

Christmas or Thanksgiving! I love any time when the extended family is able to get together, relax, and enjoy each other’s company. Watching my kids grow up and play with their cousins is a blessing! And reminds me of my childhood.

Who is your role model?

Jack Bauer. He gets stuff done.

What’s your favorite TV Show?

Currently, The Walking Dead. TV time has drastically decreased (ceased to exist) since the birth of Hunter, our oldest, but I still carve out an hour on Sunday nights after everyone is in bed, to get the DVR going and catch this show.

Other shows I enjoy that are currently on—Modern Family

Past shows I enjoyed/enjoy through Netflix—Arrested Development is hilarious. Hands down my favorite comedy. 24-see my role model answer. Made it through Dexter on Netflix—hated the ending.

Probably others that I’m forgetting-we just don’t do much TV.

What was the reason you decided to become a pediatrician?

I actually went to medical school to become an orthopedic surgeon. I had no intention of doing anything except operating on knees and ankles and helping people regain their mobility. But then I just fell in love with the kids during my pediatric rotation during my 3rd year of medical school. It was like a light bulb went off, and I realized that THIS was what I wanted to do with the rest of my life.

Do you have any other sub-specialties?

Can I meet you before my baby is born?

Most definitely! I am more than happy to see any expecting families before delivery! We offer pre-natal appointments at the clinic, free of charge, for prospective parents to come in, tour the facility, get introduced to the staff, and to sit down and get to know me a little bit. This is a great way to ask any questions you might have of me, to see if you think we will be a good fit for you and your new addition!

Will you meet my baby first at the hospital or at our first check up?

That one is tricky—it depends. There are 5 pediatricians currently in the St Vincent health system, and we all take turns covering the nursery. If I happen to be on-call when you deliver, then you will meet me in the hospital! If it falls in a week when someone else is covering, you won’t see me until your first clinic visit.

What hospitals do you work with?

We cover the nurseries at both St. Vincent Infirmary and Baptist

What do I do if my baby is sick after hours?

Call our after hours line first! Most illnesses are OK to be managed at home overnight, and can wait until the following morning to be seen by me in clinic. If the nurse taking your call feels it is something that can’t wait, she will page me or the doctor on call, who will then give you a call back and help you decide if you need to be seen that night or if you can wait until the next morning.

If I’m struggling with breastfeeding and come into see you, what will your recommendation be to help me?

That’s a tough one to answer—each situation is unique and may require slightly different advice. There are resources available to help you, including Riverfront Doulas, who I will make sure you get connected to!

How often do you need to see my baby?

From a check up standpoint, I would see you 2-3 days after your hospital discharge, again at 2 weeks of age, then 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months, and 12 months during that first year. In addition to the checkups I want to see you anytime you have questions or concerns, or when your child is sick!

Can I call you if I have questions that don’t require me to bring my baby in, such as what kind of laundry detergent is best for newborn skin?

Why do you want to be our pediatrician?

My life’s passion is helping children, ALL children, grow and thrive to their fullest potential. I love the partnerships and friendships that I form with each parent as we both work towards this same goal for their children.

What do you love most about being a pediatrician?

The kids obviously! They have the BIGGEST personalities, and every day I get to play and visit with them!

Do you know how to call the Hogs?

Um… C-A-T-S, C-A-T-S, C-A-T-S, CATS, CATS, CATS!!!

Our conclusion is, Dr. Harwood obviously has a great personality & we share a lot of common interest with him. He loves children, has great knowledge and is willing to build a relationship with parents so they feel completely confident. The only thing we see we may need to do, is teach him how to call those HOGS!! WOO PIG SOOIE!
